We are glad to announce that we will supply our materials for the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam 5250MW.
The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, previously known as the Millennium Dam as sometimes referred as the Hidase Dam, is a gravity dam under construction on the Blue Nile River, about 40 km east from Sudan, in the Ethiopian region of Benishangul-Gumuz.
The construction began on April 2nd, 2011 and should take 44 months. With an allocation of $ 4.8 billion, the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) launched the project and, in the end, this dam will be the biggest in Africa, with an installed power of 5250 MW and an expected production of 15.000 Gwh/year.
More precisely, there will one the main dam with two power plants at its feet. These power plants are on the left and right side of the river and are made of Francis turbines, with an overall production capacity of 5250 MW.
We supplied metals and plastic materials.
One of the main advantages of the dam will the production of hydroelectric energy, which will be sold in Europe and adjacent countries, Sudan and (maybe) Egypt included.
